Description: If you have an appetite for a high performance gaming laptop or one of the most powerful laptops
out there, the Alienware Area-51m 7700 is one laptop you must experience. Let's look at the basics, as of January 2005:
It comes standard with the Intel Pentium 4 Processor 530 w/ HT Technology at 3.0GHz and 1MB Cache. You can upgrade to the
3.6 GHz processor for about $283. Standard RAM is 256MB DDR2 SO-DIMM at 533MHz - 1 x 256MB but if you're serious about power
go for the upgrade to at least 1GB or, better yet, go for the 2GB of RAM. The only available video card is the Area-51m 7700
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Go with 256MB of DDR2 memory, which would be a very nice video card in any system but should be awesome
in this high performance notebook. The standard sound card is the Intel High-Definition Audio with 7.1 surround sound and available
upgrades include Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA OEM, Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX USB External and the Zalman
ZM-RSSC 5.1 Channel USB Sound Card. For storage, you get a 40GB 5400 RPM ATA100 hard drive and can upgrade your Area-51m to
a dual drive configuration, non RAID, 80GB (40GB x 2) 5400 RPM ATA100 drives, Extreme Performance, RAID 0, 80GB (40GB x 2) 5400 RPM ATA100 or
the high performance with Data Security, RAID 1, 40GB (40GB x 2) 5400 RPM ATA100 drives. You can get either the 1 or 2 optical drive
configuration, with a standard 24x10x24 CD-RW / 8X DVD Combo w/Software MPEG2 Decoder or the available 8X Dual Layer DVD /-RW /
24X CD-RW Combo w/Software in drive 1 and either the 8X Dual Layer DVD /-RW / 24X CD-RW Combo or the 24x10x24 CD-RW /
8X DVD Combo w/Software drive. Floppy drive? Yes, it's free and should make an attractive little bookend, unless you actually still
use these. The Area-51m 7700 comes standard with a Integrated 10/1000Mb Gigabit Ethernet NIC and the option to upgrade your network
connectivity to either an external wireless 802.11a/b/g PCMCIA card or an internal wireless 802.11a/b/g miniPCI card. The Area-51m 7700
comes standard with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 but you'll likely want to spend the extra $57 and get
Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2.

Alienware states the Area-51m 7700 was "Created in an effort to merge desktop features into a smaller form factor without compromise,
the Alienware Area-51m 7700 represents the world's first "Mobile Desktop." Looking at the extensive list of features and functionality,
this notebook could certainly replace most desktops our there. For gamers and multimedia enthusiasts, this high performance notebook
should exceed your expectations with the latest Pentium 4 processor and the 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Go graphics card and the
brilliant 17 inch LCD will make it all more enjoyable with its 16:10 aspect ratio, which lends itself perfectly to widescreen DVD's
and applications. Alienware didn't stop at just raw power, this high performance notebook
has 4 integrated speakers and a subwoofer, all managed by the unrivaled quality of the system's SPDIF digital 5.1 Surround sound output.
Like some of the best desktops, the Area-51m 770 has support for two optical drives, two hard drives, and support for both IDE and SATA
drive interfaces the Alienware Area-51m 7700 provides users with an exceptional amount of flexibility. In addition to providing the freedom
to use nearly any combination of devices, this flexibility also allows for a simple and convenient means for upgrading down the road
ensuring that the system will remain cutting-edge. Connectivity is not an issue with connections ranging from a premium DVI graphics interface,
7-in-1 memory card reader, to a limitless series of Firewire and USB 2.0 ports.

Cooling should not be an issue since Alienware Systems all sport cooling solutions designed specifically for intense applications and
high-performance components. All systems come standard with a dedicated and tested copper-heatpipe cooling systems. In addition to the
mammoth CPU-specific cooler, the Area-51m 7700 has a dedicated Graphics card cooling solution and fan. It is designed to maintain the
video module cool and allow it to run at its highest performance.

The Alienware Area-51m 7700 ranks with the best of the high performance notebooks with its raw power, multitude of features and execptional
great looks. This is certainly a notebook that stands out in the crowded sea of notebooks available and will leave quite an impression
on your friends and colleagues. With Alienware's system configurator, you don't have to buy an off-the-shelf notebook but can choose the
